Studienkommission (Commission for Studies)

Professors, Teaching Staff, Administration, Students Election (in the Faculty Council, personal) Faculty of Modern Languages

The Commission for Studies is concerned with functional topics from all subjects at the Faculty of Modern Languages, for example:

  • Exam regulations and course structure
  • Evaluation of the curriculum

The Commission for Studies considers and discusses decisions from the Subject Council in Computational Linguistics and the other Subject Councils for modern languages, but can also make its own decisions (which often happens if the topic concerns all subjects in the faculty). It meets two weeks before the Faculty Council and passes its results and suggestions on to the Faculty Council.

Unlike the Faculty Council (which is on the same organizational level with the same member groups), the Commission for Studies only discusses topics relevant for studies. The meetings therefore usually go much faster than the Faculty Council, are for more relevant for us students, the students’ opinions are typically valued more and the members are more involved with study-related topics than the Subject Council.

Who sits in the Commission for Studies?

The Commission for Studies has 4 student members. For us, these are (term of office: Winter Semester 2025/2026 and Summer Semester 2026):

  • Jakob
  • JP (substitute)

How can I join?

The current members of the Commission for Studies are asked towards the end of their term to make a new suggestion. If you want to run for Commission for Studies, ask in a Fachschaftsvollversammlung.
